HPP about The Future of Living

  General news

Last Thursday, a large number of HPP members gathered online to kick-off the first meeting about The Future of Living. Wienke Bodewes, chairman of HPP, started with an introduction about the importance of talking about how we want to live in the future. There is a struggle for space, spatial planning is coming back, demographics are going to change enormously. How do we deal with the space that is left? And are mid-cap cities more adaptive than large cities to respond to the future of living?

To make the important connection between the market and the public sector, HPP invited several alderman of mid-cap cities to give insights into their vision for living. Fahid Minhas (Schiedam), Gert Jan Krabbendam (Maastricht), Jeroen Diepemaat (Enschede) and Roeland van der Schaaf (Groningen) all gave a pitch about the character of their city, the plans for the future and which partners they need to fulfill their ambitions. Also, Cees van Boven, chairman of Woonzorg Nederland, gave a presentation in which he pressed the urge for developing housing for senior citizens.

On 11 March, during the Investor Dinner in boardrooms, we will continue the discussion with the aldermen about mobility, circularity etc. We will also look for opportunities to enter into discussions with other municipalities.
